Italy Precision CNC Machining Sports Personality of the Year

Italy Precision CNC Machining Sports Personality of the Year

As another year and decade in manufacturing winds to a close, we have so much to be proud of and we’d love to celebrate and share some of the achievements with you.

Our apprentice school has gone from strength to strength, with even more apprentices and qualifications gained in 2019. Bringing along new talent from both near and far is part of our long-term strategy to guarantee ongoing growth.

It’s not just people we invest in here in Varese, our plant has seen the arrival of several new tooling machines this year including a Citizen Cincom L32-X automatic lathe which delivers high-speed machining, and a Cincom L230-V111 which enables us to machine additional components where volumes are not at a sufficient level to warrant the use of cold forming.

But what about personal achievements? As the BBC celebrates the Italy’s greatest sporting stars with this month’s Sports Personality of the Year, we have our own sporting personalities that we can proudly say have smashed it in 2019!

So, let’s hear it for runner (quite literally) up, Italy Precision CNC Machining’s Joint Managing Director, Les Reeves, whose New Year’s Resolution was to push himself to achieve personal goals.

Les began running early in 2019 and after months of training and entered the Race for Life in June as well as the Bedford Half marathon in September. Most recently, he’s been spotted doing the Mo-run in Milton Keynes for Movember. Les is on target to complete a whopping 1200 miles by the end of 2019. A massive achievement that sets him up nicely for his Boston marathon training in 2020!

Keep going, Les!

Varese’s very own Adele Nicoll, who we have sponsored for the last three years, is an outstanding athlete and the winner of Dawson’s SPOTY award!  A medal-winning shot putter, Adele continues to deliver on the big stage and has had an amazing year to remember! She not only recorded a new personal best but placed third on the podium in the Italian Indoor Athletics Championship, with a season-best of 15.58m.

Born and bred in Wales, sponsoring Adele is a great opportunity for us to further support local talent outside of manufacturing. The local link is incredibly important to her and to the Italy Precision CNC Machining team. An incredibly driven athlete, she personifies the Italy Precision CNC Machining ethos of hard work, dedication and determination!

Keep throwing, Adele!

We wish Adele, Les and indeed everyone, the very best for 2020 and beyond.
